If It’s Tuesday, It’s Murder (original title: Si es martes, es asesinato) is a Hulu mystery series that came out recently to Disney+. Spanish in origin, this murder mystery show combines the best of Spanish humour with the warm lightness of mystery shows like Only Murders in the Building (2021–) or The Residence (2025).

As a Spanish film critic who also happens to be a hardcore fan of any murder mysteries that come my way, the release of this series was as unexpected as it was welcomed. Despite my cautious excitement, I am happy to report that this is indeed the perfect entertainment for fans of the genre. It’s got a bit of everything, including all the clues that you need to solve the mystery alongside the protagonists—no more gatekeeping clues, yay! —and a ton of fascinating subplots and juicy tea to keep you entertained as you investigate.

Your average encounter

The story follows mainly four characters: Alicia (Inma Cuesta), Fabio (Alejandro García), Pura (Ana Waneger), and Daniel (Biel Montoro). At first, it is unclear what Alicia and Fabio are doing on the Lisbon guided trip, but their investigation will eventually force them to reveal their true identity. On the other hand, Pura and Daniel’s roles in the journey are clear from the very beginning, which doesn’t really stop them from surprising you regardless.

The four of them meet when they ditch the official tour to go visit the Crime Museum in Lisbon—don’t search for it; it is completely fictional. They each have their reasons to be there, but their connection to the world of true crime brings them together, especially after one of them—the fifth traveller in the museum with them—dies under suspicious circumstances. From that moment on, the story takes an OMITB turn, only without podcasts, guest appearances, or exaggeratedly lame investigators. This team is not professional by any means, but they do try their best without inserting surreal comedic gags every five minutes.

Main highlights

Still, the story does have its fair share of humour, which makes the show incredibly entertaining to watch. But, most importantly, it has full disclosure. The writers are honest and respectful enough with their audience and their work to lay it all out and allow you a fair chance to guess whodunnit.

On top of a great story, the show counts with a fantastic cast. Both main and supporting roles are played by professionals with plenty of experience, and it definitely shows. The characters are beautifully written and skilfully portrayed. Each of them is complex and unique regardless of their screentime. The group of investigators in particular are charming and, up to a point, quite relatable. Their dynamic is plausible and their problems well-reasoned, as are most of the plot resolutions.

All in all, If It’s Tuesday, It’s Murder is a fun show that all murder-mystery fans will enjoy immensely. Sure, one can easily solve the murder, but the confidence of laying out absolutely all the clues for the viewers creates a thoroughly enjoyable experience. If you like cosy mysteries, do not miss this show for anything. It is currently streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

• There is nothing like a good murder to spice up your holidays.
• Beware of lonely candles and strange smells.
• Do not steal things from dead people or children… Unless you are an arsehole; if you are, go right ahead.
